In March 2025, we successfully completed an in situ research campaign at the Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM), marking a decisive step in the methodological and conceptual consolidation of the SPAM project.
Following the project kick-off meeting held in Valencia in October 2024, which proved instrumental in identifying highly significant case studies, the IVAM campaign focused on the non-invasive study of six internationally renowned avant-garde works.
Access to such masterpieces represents an exceptional privilege and provides a rare opportunity to conduct research at the highest scientific and technical level. Working directly in the museum environment allowed us to test and refine advanced analytical protocols under real conditions, contributing to the definition of the methodological framework that will guide the next phases of the project.
The exceptional quality and international relevance of the selected works ensure that the data generated will not only inform our research objectives but also contribute to broader discussions in heritage science and technical art history. This campaign confirms the importance of close collaboration between research teams and leading museums in enabling rigorous, high-impact investigation grounded in outstanding cultural assets.
